A seaplane was requested to be displayed on the wall of the castle of Antibes, France. The event was the celebration of the air link between Antibes, Ajaccio and Tunis, active in the twenties. The aircraft used was a Cessna L-19.

Airmail via seaplanes has a rich and fascinating history and is still alive for celebration purposes. Here, envelops transported in airmail flights between cities on the shores of Lake Como and Lake Maggiore. The poster promoted a philatelic event with transportation of a special dispatch from Como to Bellagio.

A special airmail service is often a relevant media event. Above, delivery of a postal dispatch to the highest authorities of the province of Varese and the Lombardy region, Italy. The occasion was the centenary of water flying on Lake Como. Also in 1913 a seaplane stopped at Lake Varese to deliver a “salute” to the mayor of that city. Top, one of the the envelopes produced for the event and the special postmark. Right, an exhibition of airmail stamps and envelopes in the hangar of Aero Club Como.
